Jennie Brown embraces an entrepreneurial spirit in her career. As an Innova Recording Artist, she released her debut solo album in 2015, “Looking Back: Flute Music of Joseph Schwantner,” to critical praise, including an Honorable Mention in New York Classical Review Critic George Grella’s “Best Classical Albums of 2015” list.

As Artistic Director and flutist with Picosa, Brown and her colleagues launched their third concert season with concerts throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Among the many exciting concerts in 2016, Brown performed at Ear Taxi Festival, a city-wide celebration showcasing world-class new music in Chicago. Brown is also a founding member of the Heare Ensemble, which will premiere a newly commissioned work by Carter Pann in 2017 for flute, cello and piano through SDG Music Foundation.

Brown has performed and served in five National Flute Association annual conventions and was a featured solo performer in the Chicago Flute Club Silver (25th) Anniversary Celebration Concert. She has appeared numerous times as a performer on WFMT, and is an active performer throughout Chicago in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings.
Brown has recently published articles in the National Flute Association’s Flutist Quarterly, Flute Talk, and Chicago Flute Club’s Pipeline Magazine. Dr. Brown has also performed in music festivals including Aspen, the Music Academy of the West, and Norfolk. She graduated from the Eastman School of Music (DMA, MM, Performers Certificate), Northwestern University (BM) and the Interlochen Arts Academy (HS), and serves on the faculties at Wheaton and Elmhurst Colleges.  Please visit

Quicksilver-and-Bonnie-014Bonita Boyd is Professor of Flute at the Eastman School of Music, and on the artist faculty of the Aspen Music and Aria International Festivals. She is co- principal flutist of the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Previous posts include principal flute with the Rochester Philharmonic (1971-1984), Chautauqua Symphony (1971-1977), and Filarmonica de las Americas, Mexico City (1977). She was a faculty member of the Johannesen International School of the Arts (1987-1996).

Ms. Boyd has performed with orchestras and as recitalist throughout the world, including the National Gallery Orchestra (Washington, D.C.), National Symphony of the Dominican Republic, California Chamber Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony, Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, Denver Chamber Orchestra, Pusan Symphony (Korea), Western Australia Symphony, Queensland Symphony, Polish Radio Orchestra, Vilnius Chamber Orchestra, as well as numerous performances on National Public Radio, PBS television specials, and radio recordings in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, Oslo, Amsterdam, The Hague, Brussels, Poland, and Lithuania.

Her extensive discography includes releases on Spectrum, Vox, Stolat, Gasparo, Philips, Albany, Pantheon, and Fleur de Son labels. Her most recent recordings include Bernstein’s Halil and a new release of the Paganini Caprices. Boyd has premiered numerous works, including Samuel Adler’s Concerto (1977); Warren Benson’s Five Lyrics of Louise Bogan (1978) and Concertino for Flute, Strings, and Percussion; Solo Sonata by Miklos Rozsa; and Eclipse Musings, Augusta Read Thomas (1998). tachouet-web-sizeMarie Tachouet is Principal Flute of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and serves on the flute faculty at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. She has performed as principal flute with the Seattle Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Sarasota Opera, Joffrey Ballet, and Pittsburgh Opera orchestras and has also performed with the Pittsburgh and Oregon symphonies. An advocate of contemporary music, Marie has worked closely with composers including Charles Wuorinen, Elliot Carter, and John Zorn in venues such as the Library of Congress, Carnegie Hall, and the Guggenheim.  She has recently led masterclasses at the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, DePaul University, University of Arkansas, and Western Illinois University.  Praised by the New York Times for her “extraordinary agile” solo playing, she has been a soloist with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Olympia (WA) Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, and Akron Symphony.return to top

Dr. Robert G. Hasty is the Music Director of the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra and the conductor of the Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia at the Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University where he also serves as the Associate Director of Orchestras.

A noted researcher in music cognition, Dr. Hasty has been an author for two publications delivered at the 7th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition in Sydney, Australia.  A book on his research on conducting has recently been published:  “Critical Listening While Conducting”. The European Society for Cognitive Sciences of Music invited him to speak at their conference in Portugal on these studies.

As a conductor, Dr. Hasty has appeared with the All-American College Orchestra at Walt Disney World, Beijing Youth Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, Metropolis Youth Symphony, Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, and NU Opera Theater.  His performances have been broadcast on WFMT radio in Chicago and on the Big Ten Network.  Dr. Hasty is sought-after as an honor orchestra conductor, conducting honor groups across the United States.  He is a member of the conducting and music education faculties at the Bienen School of Music.

Lauded by the South Florida Classical Review for his “vivacious and buoyant” playing, Luke Fitzpatrick is the Principal Flute of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Sarasota Opera, and the Des Moines Metropolitan Opera. In addition to orchestral music, Luke loves performing chamber music and has collaborated with artists such as Grammy-nominated pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the Ebene String Quartet.

Luke is committed to teaching as well as performing, and loves training flute players of all ages and abilities. Past teaching highlights include Eastman’s “Music for All” outreach initiative and the Music Academy of the West’s MERIT (Music Education Reinforces Intellect and Talent) program.

Luke holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA. His teachers have included Bonita Boyd, Jeanne Baxtresser, Alberto Almarza, and Jim Walker.return to top

karin-ursinKarin Ursin, flutist and piccoloist, was born and raised in the Chicago area. She is a former member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphony. She is a graduate of Northwestern University where she studied with the legendary Walfrid Kujala. She pursued post-graduate studies with Trevor Wye at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. Karin currently teaches privately in her home studio and performs with many of the top musical groups in Chicago, including the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra, the pit orchestra for the Joffrey Ballet. She and her husband, John Hunter, have two sons and two cats.

I was fortunate to attend Credo during the summers of 2013 and 2014 while a student at Oberlin Conservatory. As a flutist, I arrived for the last week of the camp to play in the orchestra after the string students had been rehearsing chamber music intensely for a few weeks. Playing in the orchestra was an amazing and unique experience for me because all of the musicians had a clear common goal: to make beautiful music while connecting with each other on a personal and a religious level. The skills honed through studying chamber music were brought to each rehearsal with the orchestra. Each member was fully engaged with their parts and the conductor, but also with their friends on the other side of the orchestra. Music making was always the top priority and I felt immensely blessed to be a part of something so pure and good. Credo teaches and encourages each musician to be highly skilled technicians, thoughtful artists, and sensitive collaborative players, but most importantly it carries the message that music comes from deeply rooted place in each of us, and with that we are capable of expressing our joy and giving our musical message to everyone who listens.
