Announcing Credo's New Executive Director

It has been a busy year here at Credo, and over the coming weeks we have many exciting updates to share with you!

Announcing Our New Executive Director

We are excited to announce that Brooke Smith will be joining Credo as executive director. With a myriad background in management, development, Suzuki teaching, and missions, Smith comes to us with 7 years of experience as General Manager of Twoset Violin. As a violist, Brooke has studied under Dr. Kathryn Steely, a long-time supporter and faculty member of Credo.

“What I am most excited about in joining Credo is the opportunity to deeply integrate my faith and work,” Smith said. “For musicians, practice and performing is our work…and it’s our worship. Work and worship are not two separate spheres but one, and I hope to help change the culture around that, especially for young people.”

Smith begins her new position on July 1, kicking off with this year’s Credo Festival.

Credo Founder and Artistic Director Peter Slowik says, “I’m so appreciative of our donors’ support that allows us to take this important step! I’m thrilled to work hand-in-hand with Brooke and the Credo team. We now have increased staff bandwidth to reach many more young people with Credo’s unique amalgam of music, faith, and service. In the months and years to come, we will see exciting expansions of Credo – and Brooke will be a key part of that work.”

Credo City Events

As many of you know, this summer we are expanding our outreach to include city events, which will enable more people and families to join together to “Develop the Gift, Acknowledge the Source, Respond in Service.” In early June, we were delighted to hold Credo St. Louis, where 55 students were introduced to the joy and connections within the Credo family. I hope you are as inspired and delighted as we were – as you watch this glimpse of Credo City in action in St. Louishttps://youtu.be/ryWQQ5RWvUk

As this is being written, we are deeply into the week of Credo Chicago, and we look forward to Credo Boston in August!

Of course, the Credo national festival remains the backbone of our offerings. We look forward to the 24th annual Credo Festival in Oberlin, which begins July 2.
