Kangwon Lee Kim, Concertmaster and Assistant Artistic Director of the Madison Bach Musicians, is a versatile performer whose repertoire spans the 17th through 21st centuries. Equally at home on baroque and modern violins, she has been praised for her “stylistic confidence” and has performed extensively throughout the United States and internationally in Korea, Canada, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Norway, and the Czech Republic.

Dr. Kim has collaborated with renowned musicians including Menahem Pressler and Laurence Lesser and has performed at such venues as St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul. She has served as Assistant Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Biola University in California and has also taught at Ripon College and the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Wisconsin.

As a baroque violinist, Dr. Kim has performed with the Smithsonian Chamber Players, Brandywine Baroque, the Oberlin BPI Faculty Ensemble, Lyra Baroque, and Philharmonie Austin. She also regularly presents lectures on historical performance practice at universities in the United States and Korea.

Each summer, she teaches at the Credo Music Festival and directs the Madison Bach Musicians’ Summer Chamber Music Workshop.
