Dear Friends of Credo,
I’d like to extend my personal thanks to everyone who made September 2018 a very gratifying month at Credo. The flood of donations, warm memories, and encouragement for Credo’s unique mission will give us motivation and fuel to achieve even greater heights in the year to come. The Credo family is filled with amazing people — it is a joy and honor to be in relationship with each of you!

Strong September donations solidify 2019 plans
As Credo entered September, we realized that we needed to raise $55,000 in the month in order to be able to finalize our plans for the coming year. Thanks to some leadership giving from the board and many, many engaged alumni, parents, and friends we eclipsed that figure, and raised a record amount for any month in Credo's history!
As a result, by November 1 we’ll be announcing details of our 2019 season — but here’s a sneak peek:
Sing-along Messiah performances in Oberlin and Chicago
The 21st annual Credo Chamber Music Festival in Oberlin
Mission trips to Dominican Republic and Texas (hurricane relief)
Dozens of individual projects by alumni around the country
Gala concert in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall featuring Rachel Barton Pine and Credo alumnus Matthew Lipman (‘06, ‘07)

Credo faculty and alumni reunite in Pittsburgh Symphony
Over the 20 years of Credo history, it has been fun to see our alumni go all over the world, sharing their joy and music. It’s particularly gratifying when a group of them ends up working together in the same place. We’re excited for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra — they have 5 Credites working there! PSO Principal Cello Anne Williams has been a Credo faculty member since our inception. A few years ago Alexandra Thompson ('05, '06, '07) joined her section. Just this year two Credo violists, Aaron Mossburg ('06) and Meredith Kufchak ('08, '09), have won positions with PSO. Rachel Chuckran née Kufchak ('08, '09) has also joined the PSO team as Development Coordinator.
Credo in the Windy City
On September 18 and 19 Credo’s Artist-in-Residence Rebecca Shasberger was joined by pianist Natalie Sherer to present a pair of recitals to full houses in the Chicago area. On Thursday evening they played at Wyndemere, a senior living community in Wheaton, Illinois, and on Friday they were featured on the Noonday Concert Series at 4th Presbyterian Church in downtown Chicago. Rebecca reflected: “We’re so glad to be sharing music and the mission of Credo in the city that feels like our second home after Oberlin! It’s especially meaningful to continue our presence in Chicago throughout the year. The joy of making music and serving others truly cannot be contained to the summer months.”

In Memoriam Laura Pearson ('00, '01)
The Credo family was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Laura Pearson in Los Angeles on October 2. Laura was an accomplished and brilliant violist who performed with Los Angeles Philharmonic, as Associate Principal of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and for well over 100 major motion picture scores.
